Older versions of Mac OS X will show a message that the shipment can only be viewed online.
The only workaround is to update to Mac OS X 10.9 or later. As a result of that, Dashboard itself can no longer connect to their sites in older versions of Mac OS X. Postal Service recently updated their browser requirements.
So if anything goes wrong, you won’t be stuck with an older update.
